What is a Nurse Practitioner?
Nurse Practitioners are mid-level
health care providers with advanced education and clinical experience beyond
the educational preparation for a registered nurse. In addition to an RN
license, a Registered Nurse Practitioner requires a second license
permitting them to diagnose and treat patients, order and prescribe
medications. Nurse Practitioners are recognized nationally as expert health
care providers practicing under the guidelines of the State Nursing Act.
They work in collaboration with physicians and other health care providers
in diagnosing and treating medical problems.
